They begin with a leaning of the big toe, gradually changing the angle of the bones over the years and slowly producing the characteristic bump, which becomes increasingly prominent. Dont wait to fix your bunion issues as symptoms usually appear at later stages.
Our patients prefer minimally invasive bunion surgery because incisions are smaller, discomfort is minimal, we use dissolving sutures, and our technique avoids unnecessary damage to surrounding structures.
?Its a gradual dislocation of the great toe joint causing the movement of the great toe toward the second toe with a "bump on the bone” appearing on the inside of the foot. Most people believe that shoes cause bunions. Shoes do not cause bunions but may hasten their appearance at an earlier age.
Approximately 90% of bunion deformities are inherited. Normally, a bunion deformity is a progressive problem. The longer it exists, the more the great toe moves toward the second toe and the larger the bump becomes. In addition to being unattractive and painful, an untreated bunion can cause hammertoes, corns, callus, arthritis of the joint and chronic discomfort.
Bunions are most often caused by an inherited faulty mechanical structure of the foot. It is not the bunion itself that is inherited but certain foot types that make a person prone to developing a bunion.
Although wearing shoes that crowd the toes will not actually cause bunions, it sometimes makes the deformity get progressively worse. Symptoms may therefore appear sooner.
Symptoms, which occur at the site of the bunion, may include:
I had bunion surgery about 25 years ago, the traditional surgery. I was off work for a few works, I had no physical therapy, and my feet continued to bother me after that. I have a coworker who came to Dr. Weber and raved about him, so I came in and scheduled my surgery for a Friday. I was back to work on Monday, I started physical therapy on Monday right away, and hardly any pain medication – maybe the first couple of nights, and that was it.
The staff is fabulous, they welcome you like you are part of your family. They attend to you every minute you are in the room waiting, which is not a long wait. They get you in, they get you out and I would recommend Dr. Weber and his staff to anybody!
Our doctors share the same common belief that the best treatment alternative for a patient is the least invasive which offers the quickest recovery time.

I was referred to Dr. Fauria by another podiatrist who informed me that my condition was "above his pay grade." He gave me several referrals but, when asked who he would go to if it was his foot, he said "Quinn.".
The surgery was a success and Dr. Furia is the BEST! I am so thankful to him and his staff for getting me back on my feet. I highly recommend Dr. Fauria and Dr. Pettinelli.
Dr. Fauria did surgery on my right foot 6 weeks ago to remove a bunion and plantar fibroma. His work is impeccable. My right foot looks almost exactly like my left foot. He is a perfectionist with his work and I'm grateful the surgery went so well.

Dr. Fauria is by far the BEST podiatrist I have ever been to. His wonderful staff and himself deserve way more than a 5 star rating. I have been looking for an honest dr for the past year and have seen more than 5 different podiatrist; From Beverly Hills to UCLA Santa Monica and I am soo happy that I have found this Dr right here in Studio City.
